Independence Day Celebrated with Patriotic Fervor in Jamalpur

Jamalpur: The Independence and National Day was observed in the district in a befitting manner today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the district administration, Freedom Fighters, political parties, educational institutions, and various cultural and social organizations organized special programs to mark the day.



The day’s events commenced with a 31-gun salute at sunrise in the town. People from all walks of life paid homage to the martyrs by placing floral wreaths at the Memorial in the town after dawn. Deputy Commissioner Hasina Begum was the first to place a wreath at the memorial, followed by Superintendent of Police Syed Md Rafiqul Islam.



Subsequently, tributes were paid by the Zila Parishad, freedom fighters, district and sessions judge, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), political parties, Jamalpur Municipality, Civil Surgeon Office, Agriculture Department, various government offices, Jamalpur Press Club, educational institutions, professional groups, workers’ associations, and social and cultural organizations.



The day also featured a reception for the families of martyred freedom fighters and living freedom fighters. Additional activities included a discussion meeting, distribution of nutritious food among inmates of the jail, orphanages, and old shelter homes, as well as a Doa Mahfil.
