Immigration activities through Sonamasjid Land Port in Chapainawabganj district resumed after three years this afternoon.
Indian Assistant High Commissioner Rajshahi Monoj Kumar inaugurated the immigration activities at 12-30 pm today.
During the inauguration, lawmaker of Chapainawabganj-1 (Shibganj) constituency Dr. Samil Uddin Ahmed Shimul, lawmaker of Chapainawabganj-2 (Nachole-Gomostapur-Bholahat) constituency Muhammad Ziaur Rahman, lawmaker of reserved women seat Ferdousi Islam Jesi and Chairman of Chapainawabganj Zila Parishad Md. Ruhul Amin and other business leaders were present.
After the inauguration, a 25-member business team led by the president of Chapainawabganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md. Abdul Wahed went to India through the port.
Sub-inspector of Sonamasjid Immigration check post Jafar Iqbal said, immigration activities through the port was suspended from March 15, 2020 due to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
