Kathmandu: Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Bishwombhar Prasad Shrestha said the State would play a guardian role to address the importance and need of juvenile justice. At a national workshop on juvenile justice organized in Kathmandu today, he said the State would play a parental role to address the importance and needs of juvenile justice taking it an an important dimension of child rights. "It is the responsibility of every civilized nation to ensure proper and effective implementation of juvenile justice. Therefore, Nepal is also committed to it. ' The government is preparing to establish a separate children's court in the Kathmandu Valley in the current fiscal year, he pointed out that several challenges were prevailing despite various efforts to strengthen the juvenile justice system. On the occasion, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India, Dhananjay Yashwant Chandrachud said that children are the future of the society. "Children go through different dimensions of society. Due to family brea kdown, domestic violence, poverty or other reasons, they do not get necessary guidance and are negatively affected," he said. There was a need to pay attention to all angles in providing justice to the children. Chandrachud stressed the need to raise voice on behalf of the children, especially from the marginalized and backward communities. He said the risk of cybercrime has increased all over the world and children are mainly targeted. On the occasion, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Padam Giri stressed the need of formulating necessary acts and laws to address the problems in the children's sector. "Nepal has signed the Convention on the Children as a party and we are committed and determined to abide by it in letter and spirit," he said, adding, "Although many treaties and laws have been adopted, there is a need to stand firm in implementing them in practice.
