IM Fahad Triumphs Over Syrian Rival in Abu Dhabi Chess Festival

Abu dhabi: International Master (IM) Mohammad Fahad Rahman defeated Syria's FIDE Master Mazen Fandi in the fifth round of the Masters event of the 32nd Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival currently being held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The victory adds a significant win to Fahad's record in the prestigious tournament.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the fifth-round games took place last Wednesday, where IM Fahad, playing with the black pieces, employed the Sicilian Defense to secure his victory against FM Mazen in just twenty-five moves. This win brings IM Fahad's score to 2.5 points from five games in the tournament.

Looking ahead, IM Fahad is set to face FIDE Master Arvin Rasti of Sweden in the sixth round, which is scheduled for tomorrow (Friday). His performance in this upcoming match will be crucial for his standing in the competition.
