Kurigram: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) conducted separate operations where they seized smuggled goods and drugs valued at Taka 2.11 crore from various border regions of the district over the past week, spanning September 1-7. The operations also led to the arrest of two individuals involved in drug trafficking.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Commander of BGB-22 Battalion in Kurigram, Lt. Col. Mohammad Mahbub ul Haque PSC, confirmed the details on Wednesday morning. The arrested individuals were identified as Mominul Islam, 24, from Dakshin Bashjani village, and Md. Humayun Kabir, 20, from Kamat Angaria village, both located in Bhurungamari upazila of the district.
The seized items include 125 Indian cattle comprising cows and buffaloes, 635 bottles of liquor, 145 kilograms of ganja, 772 yaba tablets, 559 kilograms of cumin seeds, 190 kilograms of sugar, 496 complete dresses, 79,000 Indian rupees, 45,150 chocolate fireworks, and various cosmetics such as creams, oils, and shampoos.
The BGB has reiterated that their regular operations will continue with the aim of curbing drug trafficking and smuggling activities along the border areas.
