IGP hopes police cricketers will represent nation one day

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdulla Al-Mamun on Tuesday hoped that Bangladesh police cricketers would play in the national team one day.

He called upon the police cricket club officials to produce international quality cricketers.

The chief officer of Bangladesh Police force was addressing at the prize distribution programme of IGP Cup Cricket Championship 2022-23 at Bangladesh Police Cricket field in Bangladesh Police Staff College premises of Mirpur in the city on Tuesday.

Addressing the function, he said Bangladesh Police is contributing to the field of sports. The quality of Bangladesh Police cricket has increased. Cricket has progressed a lot because everyone is working sincerely.

The IGP, who is also president of Bangladesh Police Krira Parishad, also said that Bangladesh Police is doing well not only in cricket but also in football, kabaddi etc.

Police Staff College Bangladesh (PSC) cricket team became champion in the IGP Cup Cricket Championship 2022-23. The PSC team defeated the Industrial Police team by six wickets. Industrial Police became runner up in the tournament . The second runner up is the Armed Police Battalion (APBn). It should be noted that the PSC team became champions twice in a row.

This competition of T20 format of IGP Cup Cricket Championship was held at Bangladesh Police Cricket Club ground at PSC Chatter in Mirpur of the capital.

Additional IG of Industrial Police Mahbubur Rahman presided over the prize distribution programme.

Additional IGs of Bangladesh Police, heads of various police units based in Dhaka, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) directors Khaled Mahmud Sujan and Ismail Haider Mallick and BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Sujan, cricketer Shakib Al Hasan were present on the occasion.
