IGP Calls for Impartiality Among New Police Officers

Dhaka:Inspector General of Police Mohammad Ali Hossain Fakir has encouraged newly appointed police officers to carry out their duties with honesty, sincerity, and impartiality, emphasizing their role in building a sustainable and secure Bangladesh.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the IGP stressed that policing should be responsive to public expectations and sensitive to human rights, addressing the needs of women, children, and the elderly. These remarks were made during a briefing for the officers of the 43rd BCS (Police) batch at the Hall of Integrity at Police Headquarters.

The IGP highlighted that the police force had to adapt following the mass uprising of August 5 and the resulting changes in social and national circumstances. Newly posted officers are expected to meet public expectations with renewed commitment and serve as ambassadors of the police force.

Describing policing as both a service and a challenge, the IGP urged the officers to prepare for emerging challenges, continuously enhance their knowledge and experience, and uphold professionalism. He emphasized the importance of maintaining complete impartiality and prioritizing laws and regulations in their duties.

He also urged the officers to build trust with the public and provide services accordingly. During the event, several newly appointed officers shared their field-level training experiences and pledged to serve with professionalism and work to gain public trust.

A total of 72 officers, comprising 66 men and six women, have joined Bangladesh Police as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) under the 43rd BCS (Police) batch. Additional IGP (Administration) AKM Awlad Hossain, who chaired the programme, also encouraged the new officers to align their duties with national expectations.

Senior police officials, including Additional IGPs Md. Akram Hossain, Khondoker Rafiqul Islam, Sarder Nurul Amin, Md. Mushfequr Rahman, Md. Sayedur Rahman, and Muhammad Iqbal Hossain, attended the programme. DIG (Administration) Md. Humayoun Kabir moderated the event.
