Rajshahi: Openers Iftekhar Hossain Ifti and Abdul Mazid hit half-centuries as Barishal Division put them on top over Rangpur Division in their fifth round game of the National Cricket League (NCL) today at Rajshahi Stadium. Ifti was not out on 60 while Mazid made 54 to help Barishal reach 119-1 and take an overall 133-run lead at stumps on Day 3.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Barishal took a 14-run lead in the first innings when Rangpur were wrapped up for 322, after resuming the day at 218-5. Barishal posted a total of 336 before being all out in their first innings. Abdullah Al Mamun was the top-scorer for Rangpur with 65, while Naeem Islam contributed 40. Ariful Haque added 38, and Nobin Islam remained not out on 30.
Ruyel Mea and Moin Khan were instrumental in Barishal’s bowling attack, each grabbing three wickets to restrict Rangpur’s batting lineup. With this strong performance, Barishal now holds a significant lead heading into the final day of the match.
