Dhaka: Four separate complaints were filed with the International Crime Tribunal (ICT) today against Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and police including its detective branch (DB) for detaining, torturing and ultimately making four leaders of Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) crippled for life by firing at their knees while being blindfolded and handcuffed.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the complaints were filed by the victims-Md Abujar Gifari, Omar Ali, Md Ruhul Amin, and Israfil Hossain-with the assistance from ICS law affairs secretary Abdullah Al Noman and assistant law affairs secretary Amanullah Adib. The victims alleged severe human rights violations that led to their permanent disabilities.

Md Abujar Gifari and Omar Ali held prominent positions as president and general secretary of the Joypurhat district ICS, whereas Md Ruhul Amin served as the literature affairs secretary of the ICS Chowgacha upazilla unit, and Israfil Hossain was the secretary of the same unit. Abdullah Al Noman, representing
the victims, stated that under the current regime, there have been numerous acts of brutality specifically targeting ICS members due to their political affiliations.

The leaders of the Islamic Chhatra Shibir emphasized that many of their members have faced similar atrocities and indicated their intention to file additional complaints about these incidents.
