ICAO Training Enhances Aviation Security in Bangladesh

Dhaka: The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has successfully completed the ICAO National Inspectors Course on aviation security, concluding a significant training initiative with support from the United Kingdom, as announced in a CAAB press release.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the week-long course is anticipated to enhance Bangladesh’s capability in ensuring safer skies. The completion ceremony was attended by CAAB’s Acting Chairman, Air Commodore Abu Sayeed Mehboob Khan, who served as the chief guest and awarded certificates to 20 CAAB security officials who completed the training.



The event also featured British Deputy High Commissioner to Bangladesh, James Goldman, as a Special Guest. Other notable attendees included CAAB Member (Security) Air Commodore Md Asif Iqbal and Civil Aviation Academy Director Prasanta Kumar Chakraborty.



In his speech, the CAAB Acting Chairman emphasized the critical importance of the training in reinforcing airport security amidst evolving global threats. He expressed gratitude towards the British High Commission and the Department for Transport (DFT) for their sustained support, highlighting the enduring bilateral ties between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom.



Speakers at the event expressed optimism that the specialized training would significantly contribute to improving the skills and efficiency of aviation security personnel in Bangladesh. The course was conducted by two UK-based AVSEC instructors who led intensive sessions over seven days, as stated in the CAAB release.
