Khulna: Police have arrested a man, Khokhon Shikdar, in connection with the murder of his wife who died at a private hospital in Dhaka while undergoing treatment. The deceased was identified as Khurshida Begum, 50, a resident of Chandpur village under Rupsha upazila of the district, police said today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the incident took place on Thursday morning following a domestic dispute. In a fit of rage, Khokhon Shikdar allegedly struck his wife on the head with a spade, leaving her seriously injured. She was first taken to Rupsha Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Khulna Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) as her condition deteriorated. Subsequently, she was transferred to a private hospital in Dhaka for advanced treatment, where she succumbed to her injuries late Friday night.
Following the incident, the victim’s son, Mishkat Shikdar, filed a murder case with Rupsha Police Station against his father. The accused, Khokhon Shikdar, was arrested this morning. Investigating Officer of Rupsha Police Station, Mohammad Abdus Sabur Khan, confirmed and said the accused had been taken into custody in connection with the murder and legal proceedings were underway.
