Army Defuses 7 Landmines in Chuadanga Farmland

Chuadanga: A Bangladesh Army bomb disposal team successfully defused seven landmines discovered in an agricultural field in Makhaldanga Schoolpara area of Sadar upazila here on Saturday. The operation began at approximately 11:00 am and concluded around 1:30 pm.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the explosives had earlier been identified in the same area on February 28, raising concerns among local residents. A 15-member bomb disposal unit from the 55 Regiment, stationed at Jashore Cantonment, carried out the operation under the leadership of Captain Md. Selim and Captain Md. Rifat.



During the first phase of the operation, four landmines were neutralized, followed by the successful defusal of three more. Senior local officials were present during the operation, including Executive Magistrate Mirza Shahidul, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Mostafizur Rahman, and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Mizanur Rahman.



Personnel from the Fire Service and Chuadanga District Police also assisted in ensuring security throughout the operation. Authorities have not yet confirmed the origin of the landmines but have assured that the area is now secure.
