Huawei brings three competitions for Bangladeshi youths

Global ICT infrastructure provider Huawei Wednesday inaugurated three new competitions – ICT Incubator, App Developer and Tech Woman to nurture the local startups and ICT talents of Bangladesh.

All these three programmes are designed for new startups and the idea of developing mobile apps.

The ICT incubator contest is focused on startups and is divided into two criteria – idea stage and early stage.

The champion of both the idea stage and early stage of the ICT Incubation competition will get up to Tk500,000 prize money.

The CEO will get a chance to meet successful startups abroad and up to $125k Huawei Cloud credit. The first and second runner-ups will get up to Tk300,000 and up to Tk100,000 prize money.

Both the runner-ups’ CEO will also get the chance to meet successful startups abroad with $80k Cloud Credit.

Huawei App Developer and Huawei Tech Woman competitions are for university students. A maximum of two members can form a team. Participants from the third or fourth year of any university with a CGPA above 3 will be eligible to apply.

Huawei Tech Woman programme is dedicated to women’s participation.

The champion of the App Developer and Huawei Tech Woman competition will get up to Tk300,000 prize money, an opportunity to meet global successful app developers and have access to Huawei Cloud resources of up to $5,000.

The first and second runner-ups will consecutively get up to Tk200,000 and Tk100,000 prize money and up to $3,000 and $2,000 Huawei Cloud resources.

Pan Junfeng, CEO of Huawei Technologies Bangladesh said: “The ICT Incubator will foster a healthy and sustainable startup ecosystem for everyone by assisting both early-stage startups and idea-stage startups. It will also provide all EEE, ECE and CSE students in their third and fourth year the opportunity to enhance their already existing skills while attaining new ones.”

“The programmes will also focus on supporting the women of this country who are working or studying in tech-related fields.”

The registration process will begin on June 15 and end on June 30.
