Dhaka: The grand finale of the HSBC-BRAC University Business Case Competition 2026 was held at BRAC University’s Multipurpose Hall, concluding one of Bangladesh’s most prestigious undergraduate business competitions focused on real-world problem solving and leadership development.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, now in its 14th edition, the competition has engaged more than 70,000 students to date and has provided opportunities for 44 participants to represent Bangladesh at the international stage in Hong Kong, accompanied by their coaches, said a press release. This year, over 1,600 students from 46 universities across the country took part, making it one of the most competitive editions.
After multiple rigorous rounds, the final teams presented strategic solutions to a real-life business case before an expert panel of judges. The competition was attended by chief guest Sarah Cooke, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, and special guest Mahmud Hasan Khan, President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association.
The judging panel included Shamima Akhter, Director of Corporate Affairs, Partnerships and Communications at Unilever Bangladesh Limited; Husne Ara Shikha, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank; and Ziaur Rahman, Regional Country Manager of H and M Bangladesh.
Team Six Seven from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) emerged as the champion and will represent Bangladesh at the global finale in Hong Kong. Team Arctic Wolves from North South University secured the first runner-up position, while Team Rotten MARS from BUP became the second runner-up.
The champion team received a trophy and Taka 200,000. The first runner-up and second runner-up received Taka 100,000 and Taka 50,000 respectively, along with trophies.
Speaking as chief guest, Sarah Cooke highlighted the importance of strengthening educational collaboration between the United Kingdom and Bangladesh to develop a skilled workforce capable of competing globally. Special guest Mahmud Hasan Khan said such competitions play a vital role in preparing future leaders, particularly as industries like the ready-made garment sector continue to evolve amid global challenges.
HSBC Bangladesh CEO Md. Mahbub ur Rahman said the initiative helps bridge academic learning with real-world business application while equipping students with a global mindset. BRAC Business School Dean Professor Mohammad Mujibul Haque emphasized the importance of case-based learning in developing practical skills and praised the partnership between academia and industry. The Vice Chancellor of BRAC University, Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar, PhD, was also present at the event.
