Gaibandha: Civil Surgeon Dr. Kaniz Sabiha has assured the public that there is no reason for concern regarding the safety of the HPV vaccine. “HPV vaccine is tested and it is very safe so there is no possibility of being sick after taking the vaccine,” she told BSS.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Sabiha addressed claims circulating on social media that suggested girls fell ill after receiving the HPV vaccine. She clarified that any sickness reported is unlikely to be linked to the vaccine itself. The civil surgeon explained that the girls might have felt panicked after receiving the injection, which could have led to their discomfort, but it was not caused by the vaccine.

Dr. Sabiha encouraged eligible girls to receive the vaccine without fear. She highlighted that the health department aims to vaccinate 121,260 girls across all seven upazilas in the district. The vaccination campaign began on October 24 and is set to continue until November 23.
