Homestay promotes Magar culture

A homestay run by the Devchuli Chuli Bojha Magar community at Bulingtar rural municipality-4 of Nawalparasi district has been an attraction to the domestic and external tourists lately.

The homestay established in 2018 has been hosting those guests willing to explore and enjoy Magar community’s culture, cuisine and way of life.

The facility 22-km away from Daldale bazaar in the East-West Highway is named after a high hill named Devchuli Danda which falls under the Mahabharata range and Chuli Bojha village.

The proprietors of the homestay serve indigenous cuisines and offer cultural performances to the guests. The village itself has enchanting landscape to lure the tourists, said homestay’s secretary Hemlal Baral.

It a special hangout for those who want to flee the sweltering heat of Terai region and the nature lovers who relish a panoramic view of majestic mountains such as Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. The 1,936-metres tall hill- Devachuli Danda- is another hiking footfall, said secretary Bar

There are altogether 13 houses in the locality running the homestay which are drawing some 50 to 60 guests on a daily basis these days.

The proprietors of the lodging have been saving 10 per cent of the income in the community user group which they use for promotion of homestay and for other social causes, it was shared.
