Dhaka: The Security Services Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs has extended further financial support to the family of the late firefighter Md. Swanur Zaman Nayan, providing an additional Tk 5 lakh. Nayan, aged 24, tragically lost his life in a hospital after being struck by a truck while combating a fire at the secretariat.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the cheque for Tk 5 lakh was presented to Nayan’s parents by Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) during a ceremony at his office in the Bangladesh Secretariat. The event was attended by prominent figures including Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Home Affairs Md. Khuda Baksh Chowdhury and Director General of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Brigadier General Muhammad Jahed Kamal.
Earlier, on January 6, 2025, the Home Adviser had already provided Tk 5 lakh to Nayan’s family. This recent contribution brings the total amount donated by the Home Ministry to Tk 10 lakh. Additionally, the Fire Service and Civil Defense had previously allocated Tk 1 lakh as a donation along with Tk 50,000 for Nayan’s burial expenses on December 26, 2024.
