Dhaka: Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed today visited the Forensic Chemical Laboratory of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Mohakhali, the temporary headquarters of the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) at Purbachal, and the under-construction headquarters of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit at Agargaon in the capital.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during his visit to the CID laboratory, the minister emphasized the need to enhance forensic capabilities, expand the use of modern technology, and strengthen scientific investigation procedures. He interacted with officials and observed various forensic examination activities.
At the ATU temporary headquarters in Purbachal, the Home Minister highlighted the importance of strengthening the unit's operational capacity and focusing on modernization and technology-driven counterterrorism activities to effectively combat militancy and terrorism. He held discussions on law and order, anti-terror operations, and national security issues with the concerned officials. The minister reiterated the government's commitment to building a more modern, skilled, and coordinated law enforcement system to ensure public safety and national security.
The Home Minister also inspected the under-construction headquarters of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit at Agargaon. During the visit, he reviewed the overall progress of the project, including its security infrastructure and technology-based operational facilities. Officials informed him that the construction work is progressing with the aim of completing the project within the stipulated timeframe.
Once operational, the new CTTC building is expected to significantly enhance the unit's operational capacity in combating cybercrime, militancy, and transnational crimes through advanced technological support. Senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner, and top CTTC officials were present during the inspection.
