Rangpur: Home Affairs and Agriculture Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has called upon journalists to reveal the truth against the propaganda of the Indian media. "No unstable environment has been created in the country. The Indian media is carrying out widespread propaganda and misinformation about Bangladesh," he said and urged journalists to weigh the truth against the Indian media's propaganda. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the adviser made these remarks while speaking to reporters after visiting the grave of Shaheed Abu Sayeed, a martyr in the anti-discrimination student movement, and meeting his family members in Babanpur village of Pirganj upazila. He emphasized that only journalists can counter the false propaganda by revealing the truth. "I request our journalists to tell the truth and publish the truth. Then those who are spreading propaganda will get lime ink on their faces," he stated. The adviser also addressed the ongoing Shaheed Abu Sayeed murder case, mentioning that three accused have been arrested and that the hearing will commence soon. He encouraged journalists and police to identify other suspects involved. "None of the accused will be spared under any circumstances," he assured. When questioned about the current law and order situation, the adviser likened it to rebuilding after a storm, suggesting that time is needed for full recovery. Improvements have been made, and further progress is anticipated. Regarding rumors of banning ISKCON, the adviser claimed no knowledge of such plans, assuring that any developments would be communicated to journalists. He also promised justice for those harassed through false legal cases. The adviser concluded by emphasizing collective efforts for national development, stating, "We all have to work together for the development of the country. Everything will become normal if we work together." BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, RAB Director General AKM Shahidur Rahman, and other se nior officials were present during the adviser's visit. He paid tribute to Abu Sayeed's grave, interacted with his family, and distributed winter clothing to local residents. In subsequent meetings, the adviser exchanged views with various police and defense officials, as well as officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, discussing collaborative strategies for the region's development.
