Dhaka: Home Adviser Lt Gen Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd) today emphasized the importance of discipline and patience in maintaining law and order and controlling traffic congestion. He urged everyone to cooperate with the concerned authorities for better outcomes in these areas.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the adviser made these remarks while speaking to reporters after visiting the Gabtoli cattle market. He highlighted that adherence to rules by both drivers and those involved in transporting sacrificial animals is crucial for maintaining order. He encouraged the public to follow regulations and promote compliance among others to ensure smooth traffic flow and law enforcement.
The adviser also discussed the pricing of sacrificial animals, noting that they are reasonably priced this year, with costs slightly lower than the previous year. He assured that there is an adequate supply of cattle, and buyers should not encounter any difficulties.
In addressing concerns about sellers charging extra fees for space in the cattle market, Adviser Jahangir clarified that no additional charges are permitted. This policy has been explicitly communicated in meetings.
During his visit, the adviser also inspected Mirpur and Kafrul police stations and the Public Order Management (POM) unit in the Mirpur area, reiterating the availability of sufficient sacrificial animals in the market and confirming no shortage of cows.
