Home Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury Calls for Enhanced Jail Security

Rajshahi: Home Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today directed the authorities concerned to strengthen the security of the prisons and eliminate corruption. He urged the newly trained deputy jailors and jail wardens to perform their duties with utmost competence, sincerity, and honesty to achieve the desired objectives.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Jahangir Alam made these remarks while addressing the passing out ceremony of the 14th batch of deputy jailors and the 62nd batch of jail wardens at the Rajshahi Jail Training Academy. He attended the event as the chief guest, emphasizing the importance of integrity and dedication among the jail staff.



The ceremony was attended by other notable figures, including Inspector General of Prisons Brigadier General Syed Muhammad Motahar Hussain, Deputy Inspector General of Police of Rajshahi Range Muhammad Shahjahan, Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Muhammad Abu Sufiyan, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Afia Akhter, and Superintendent of Police Farjana Islam.



A total of 18 deputy jailors and 508 jail wardens participated in the three-month and six-month foundation training programs, respectively. Jahangir Alam highlighted the significance of the recent students-people anti-discrimination movement, which he referred to as a new chapter, and stressed the importance of maintaining the pride of the jail force with renewed vigor.



He encouraged the jail authorities to work towards fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the general public and to prove themselves as friends and dutiful servants through their services. Jahangir Alam also distributed trophies to the best cadets as part of the ceremony.



Addressing the issue of illegal entries through the Bangladesh border, the home adviser assured that there is no security deficit along the border despite the increasing number of push-ins. He stated that the government has protested against this illegal activity and emphasized that foreigners residing illegally in Bangladesh will be deported through appropriate channels.
