Dhaka: Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) has issued an order for the immediate withdrawal of the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chakaria Police Station in Cox’s Bazar, demanding action within 24 hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the directive was given during a view-sharing meeting with officials from the Home and Agriculture Ministries, held at the Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner’s conference room. The decision followed an allegation made by a local journalist, who reported an incident involving the torture of an individual under the custody of Chakaria Thana Police.
The Home Adviser responded promptly to the journalist’s report by contacting the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Chittagong Range via phone, instructing them to ensure the OC’s withdrawal.
