Dhaka: As historical contributions of former President Ziaur Rahman in the country’s politics and development resonate with youth aspirations, students of various higher educational institutions see him as an inspiring figure for the posterity. A number of students from different campuses across the country described Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman as a ‘courageous and visionary leader’, commending his role in the great Liberation War and leading the country during a critical juncture of the country.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Al Fisa Hazrat Jisan, a student of the Department of Geography and Environmental Science at Jahangirnagar University, expressed admiration for Ziaur Rahman’s leadership, describing him as a symbol of patriotism who envisioned transforming war-ravaged Bangladesh into a self-reliant nation. Jisan emphasized that Rahman’s ideals and leadership continue to inspire today’s youth.
Farhan Tanvir, from the History Department at Government Azizul Haque College, highlighted Ziaur Rahman’s role in the Liberation War and his efforts to establish national unity. Tanvir noted that Rahman’s leadership gave new momentum to the country’s agriculture, industry, and economic development, emphasizing his honesty and sense of responsibility.
Md. Minhajul Abedin, a Marketing student at Dhaka University, praised Ziaur Rahman for instilling confidence in young people and inspiring nation-building. Minhajul pointed out the challenge for youth today is to develop responsible leadership, for which Rahman’s political philosophy can serve as an inspiration.
Majidur Rahman Saikat from Dhaka College’s English Department referred to Rahman as a symbol of courage and leadership. He emphasized the significance of youth involvement during Rahman’s tenure and how his ideas continue to inspire national consciousness and development.
Md. Saiful Islam, a student at Rajshahi University, regarded Ziaur Rahman as a symbol of courage and self-respect, noting his contributions during the Liberation War and his efforts to revitalize the country’s economy and administration post-war.
Md. Sabbir Mondal from Chittagong University underscored Rahman’s role in declaring independence and establishing multi-party democracy. He emphasized Rahman’s ideals as guiding lights for the new generation aspiring towards politics and identity.
Razibul Islam Shakil, another student at Government Azizul Haque College, echoed sentiments about Rahman’s visionary leadership and his role in fostering nationalism and self-reliance.
Riaz Uddin from Dhaka University highlighted Rahman’s contributions to economic recovery and rural development post-independence. He also noted Rahman’s establishment of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and his focus on rural-centric development.
Mehedi Hasan from Jahangirnagar University described Rahman as a symbol of independence and democracy, noting his inclusive approach to leadership and patriotism as inspirations for building a modern Bangladesh.
Md. Shakib Al Hasan from Dhaka College recognized Rahman’s encouragement of youth participation in national development and self-reliance efforts, emphasizing his impact on youth leadership and development.
Md. Nahid Hossain from Rajshahi University highlighted Rahman’s economic programs and leadership during a national crisis, crediting him with guiding the country towards progress.
Finally, Md. Rajibul Amin Faisal from Chittagong University reflected on Rahman’s declaration of independence as a source of courage for the youth and his vision of a self-reliant Bangladesh, which continues to inspire today’s young generation.
