Historic May Day observed in Netrakona

The historic May Day was observed in the district today with a call to uphold the rights of the working class people and maintain good relation between owners and workers. This year's theme of the day is 'Sramik-Malik Gorbo Desh, Smart Hobey Bangladesh'. Netrakona district administration, different political parties, workers associations and trade unions including district Awami League, district Sramik League, road transport workers association, construction workers association, rickshaw and auto-rickshaw sramik associations and shop employees association took various programs marking the day. As part of the programme, a colorful rally was brought out in the district town from local Muktarpara ground in the morning under the auspices of the district administration. Deputy commissioner (DC) of Netrakona Shahed Parvez, chairman of Netrakona Zila parishad Asit Kumar Sarker Sazal, additional police super Netrakona Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid, mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan and general secreta ry of the district AL Advocate Shamsur Rahman Liton were frontline of the rally. The rally after parading different main roads of the town ended on local public hall premises. Later, the rally was followed by a discussion meeting at Netrakona public hall. Chaired by DC Netrakona Shahed Parvez, the meeting was addressed, among others, by chairman of Netrakona zila parishad Asit Kumar Sarker Sazal, additional police super Netrakona Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid, mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan and general secretary of the district AL Advocate Shamsur Rahman Liton. In his speech, the DC Shahed Parvez said, the present government under the dynamic leadership of premier Sheikh Hasina has been putting its best efforts for ensuring welfare of the working class people of the country side by side of upholding their rights. He laid emphasis on the need for maintaining harmony between all employers and workers to boost national production and economy and build the country as Smart Bangladesh.
