Lalmonirhat: A special team from the Hatibandha Highway Police Station conducted a pre-dawn raid on the north side of the Teesta Barrage in the Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat, resulting in the arrest of an alleged drug dealer. The individual was found in possession of 200 bottles of phensedyl and a pickup truck.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was executed under the orders of Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Tariqul Islam of the Highway Police Rangpur region. The raid, led by SI Farid and Sergeant Palash, took place at 3 am.
SP Mohammad Tariqul Islam confirmed the arrest of Md Alamin Babu, a 29-year-old pickup driver from Hariakanda village under Kuliarchar Police Station in the Kishoreganj district. The police, acting on a tip-off, intercepted and searched the pickup truck, seizing 200 bottles of the illegal phensedyl and taking Alamin Babu into custody on the spot.
The Highway Police SP stated that as of 12:30 pm, the legal process to file a regular drug case at the Hatibandha Police Station in Lalmonirhat district was still in progress.
