Barishal: Health officials today reported 311 new cases of dengue, resulting in at least five fatalities over the past 24 hours, with the majority of cases emerging from health facilities in the southwestern Barishal region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a statement from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed that 82 of these cases were reported in the Barishal division, marking it as the most affected area by the mosquito-borne disease. Other divisions also saw new hospitalizations, including 37 in Chattogram, 42 in Dhaka excluding the capital, 61 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 51 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas. Additionally, Khulna reported 15 cases, Mymensingh had two, and Rajshahi saw 21 new cases.
Since the onset of the dengue outbreak this year, Bangladesh has recorded a total of 110 deaths and 27,782 cases. In comparison, last year, the dengue epidemic resulted in 575 deaths and affected 1,01,214 individuals across the country.
