Health Officials Report 839 Fresh Cases of Dengue Infection, 5 Deaths Overnight

Dhaka: Health officials today said they recorded 839 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least five persons in the past 24 hours.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, "During the period, (of the 839) 117 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 100 in Chattogram division, 135 in Dhaka division, 91 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 61 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 159 in Khulna division, 79 in Mymensingh division, 71 in Rajshahi division, 23 in Rangpur division and three in Sylhet division," a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year has witnessed so far 82 deaths while the disease inflicted 28,929 people.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
