Barishal: Health officials today reported 386 new cases of dengue, resulting in one death over the past 24 hours, with the majority of cases occurring in health facilities in the southwestern Barishal region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) stated that of the 386 cases, 163 patients were hospitalized in the Barishal division, which has been the most affected area by the mosquito-borne disease. The report detailed that 19 cases were hospitalized in the Chattogram division, 73 in the Dhaka division excluding the capital, 38 in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 30 in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) regions. Additionally, 16 cases were in the Khulna division, 39 in the Rajshahi division, and eight in the Mymensingh division.
Since the onset of the dengue outbreak this year, Bangladesh has recorded 43 deaths and 10,682 cases of the disease. The DGHS also reported that 322 patients have been discharged from various hospitals across the country after recovering from dengue.
Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives and affected 101,214 people in Bangladesh.
