Dhaka: The High Court (HC) is anticipated to deliver its verdict on the death reference and appeal related to the August 21 grenade attack cases tomorrow. Defense lawyer Mohammed Shishier Manir informed that the cases, including the death reference, appeal, and jail appeal, have been listed as items number 54 and 55 in the cause list for the HC bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Syed Enayet Hossain. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the HC bench concluded the hearing on the death references and appeals of the accused on November 21. On the same day, the court kept the two cases pending for verdict, commonly referred to as CAV (Curia Advisari Vult). Subsequently, the cases were scheduled in the cause list for Sunday, indicating that the verdict is expected to be announced soon. The hearing on these significant cases began at the High Court on October 31 this year. A previous ruling in October 2018 saw a speedy trial tribunal sentencing 19 individuals, including former state minister for hom e Lutfuzzaman Babor, to death for their involvement in the August 21, 2004 grenade attack on an Awami League rally in Dhaka.
