The high court: granted bail to former chief justice ABM Khairul Haque in four separate cases. A High Court division bench comprising Justice Md Khairul Alam and Justice Md Sagir Hossain issued the order, making absolute the rule previously issued in this regard.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Senior Advocates Munsurul Hoque Chowdhury, Sara Hossain, Motahar Hossain Saju, and Sayeed Ahmed Raza represented Khairul Haque during the bail hearing. Deputy Attorney General Zahirul Islam Sumon appeared on behalf of the state.
A team from the Detective Branch of Police arrested the former chief justice, aged 80, from Dhanmondi, the capital, on July 24, 2025. He was subsequently implicated in a case concerning the killing of Abdul Qaium Ahad during the July-August Mass Uprising.
Additionally, Supreme Court lawyer Muzahidul Islam had previously filed a case against Khairul Haque for allegedly delivering malicious and illegal judgments and fabricating false verdicts. This case, lodged under sections 219 and 416 of the Penal Code of 1860, was filed on August 27, 2024. Two other similar cases were filed against him in Narayanganj.
The High Court’s decision today grants him bail in all four cases.
