Harmony Rally in Gaibandha Promotes Religious Unity Amid Tensions

GAIBANDHA: A harmony rally in Gobindaganj upazila town drew active participation from various religious and political organizations on Wednesday, aiming to foster unity and counteract divisive narratives. The event, organized by the Gobindaganj Thana Police, centered around the theme “Oikyotane Gahi Samyer Gaan,” and featured a procession followed by a congregation.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the rally commenced at the thana premises around 11 a.m. and proceeded through the main roads of the town, concluding back at the original venue. The subsequent congregation was chaired by Officer-in-Charge Bulbul Islam at Thana mour. Prominent figures, including Faruk Ahmed, Convener of Upazila BNP, and Mowlana Abul Hossain Sarker, Ameer of upazila Jamaat-e-Islami, were among the speakers at the event.

The speakers emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence among Muslims, Hindus, Christians, and Buddhists in Bangladesh, highlighting the nation as a global model for religious harmony. Ho
wever, they expressed concern over efforts by certain groups to disrupt this harmony through social media rumors.

Moreover, the leaders voiced strong opposition to recent provocations from various Indian media outlets, which they claimed are tarnishing Bangladesh’s international image. They called for an end to the dissemination of false news about the Bangladeshi Hindu community.

The rally witnessed significant participation from individuals across different faiths and political leaders within the upazila, underscoring a collective commitment to preserving harmony in the region.
