Dhaka: Public Administration Ministry's Senior Secretary Md Mokhlesur Rahman announced today that all recruitments, including those in the police force, will be finalized prior to the upcoming national elections. "Instructions from the Chief Adviser are to finalize recruitments in police and all concerned jobs before the national elections," Rahman stated to journalists after a meeting focused on amendments to recruitment rules at the Ministry of Public Administration.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rahman elaborated on the meeting's discussions, revealing that the agenda included amending recruitment rules for appointing 4,000 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI). Representatives from the law, finance, and public administration ministries participated in this meeting. Rahman also mentioned that the activities of deputy commissioners at the field level are under observation. While those performing well may retain their positions, others promoted to joint secretary roles will be withdrawn before the elections.
The senior secretary clarified that the appointment of deputy commissioners and upazila nirbahi officers will not follow a lottery system, as this approach was not previously utilized. He emphasized the dual role of civil administration and police during election periods, collectively referred to as field administration, and underscored ongoing efforts to strengthen their operations.
Furthermore, Inspector General of Police Dr. Baharul Alam confirmed that the recruitment of 4000 ASI will be completed before the national elections.
