Dhaka: The government has announced the removal of 53 individuals from the official list of ‘July fighters’ due to various complaints and irregularities. This decision was detailed in a recent notification from the Liberation War Ministry, highlighting the ongoing commitment to ensure the integrity of recognized war heroes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the 53 names removed from the list were all from the Rangpur Division. This action follows a similar order from August 3, where eight individuals from different parts of the country also had their ‘July fighter’ status revoked after discrepancies were discovered during a verification process.
The official statistics indicate that there are currently 13,800 recognized ‘July warriors,’ with 836 listed as martyred. The government remains vigilant in verifying and maintaining the accuracy of this significant historical record.
