Dhaka: Prime Minister's Adviser on Education and Primary and Mass Education Mahdi Amin today announced the government's commitment to offering maximum support and opportunities to students, facilitating the development of their talents, creativity, and skills according to their individual interests.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahdi Amin articulated this vision while attending a reception at the International Mother Language Institute in Segunbagicha. The event celebrated meritorious students who achieved GPA-5 in the 2025 SSC and HSC examinations. Organised by the Special Events Department of Bangladesh Scouts, the programme honored 580 Scouts and Rover Scouts with medals, certificates of appreciation, and a cash prize of Tk 2,000 each.
During his speech, Mahdi Amin conveyed Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's educational aspirations, which emphasize an education system that extends beyond traditional textbook learning, aiming to nurture honest, competent, skilled, and compassionate citizens. He stressed that formal education should be complemented by social service and extracurricular activities, which can be effectively developed through scouting.
Mahdi Amin highlighted that success should not be solely measured by certificates and academic achievements. The government aims to support students interested in a diverse range of fields, including social sciences, literature, arts, sports, debate, or scientific pursuits, ensuring the full development of their potential.
Reflecting on his own academic experiences, Mahdi Amin recalled receiving an award for academic excellence from Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon, almost two decades ago. He encouraged the honorees to view their achievements as the beginning of a journey towards greater goals, urging them to uphold honesty, hard work, discipline, and patriotism in the face of successes and failures.
The event was chaired by Bangladesh Scouts Chief National Commissioner and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister A B M Abdus Sattar. Cabinet Secretary and President of Bangladesh Scouts Nasimul Ghani, along with other senior government officials, also graced the occasion. Deputy Chief National Commissioner of Bangladesh Scouts Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho delivered the welcome address.
