Dhaka: The government has raised the retail price of bottled soybean oil by Tk 5 per litre, setting the new price at Tk 204, up from the previous rate of Tk 199. This decision was made during a price review meeting held by business representatives and Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir at the Ministry of Commerce.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the Commerce Minister addressed reporters after the meeting, highlighting that the prices of commodities have been rising in the international market due to adverse global conditions. The minister emphasized that for products like soybean oil, where Bangladesh relies entirely on imports, any increase in the source price directly affects the overall import costs. Consequently, the hike in international market prices has had an inevitable impact on the domestic market.
Earlier this year, on April 26, soybean oil prices experienced a similar upward revision, with the retail price increasing by Tk 4 per litre, from Tk 195 to Tk 199.
