Dhaka: Government offices, banks, and courts across Bangladesh reopened on Monday following the conclusion of a seven-day Eid-ul-Azha holiday. This reopening marked the end of a period where many citizens spent time with their families, leading to a significant return of the workforce to Dhaka and other major cities. According to United News of Bangladesh, the holiday period extended from May 25 to May 31, affecting government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, and private offices. Despite the official holiday schedule, numerous employees opted to extend their leave, indicating that a festive atmosphere may linger in many workplaces for the next few days. The period preceding Eid saw substantial toll collections at the Jamuna Bridge, with figures exceeding Tk 20 crore over six days. As the holiday concluded, there was a noticeable increase in passenger and vehicle traffic at major transportation hubs. Bus terminals, railway stations, and launch terminals experienced a growing influx as people re turned to their workplaces by road, rail, and waterway. The Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka observed a significant number of returning passengers on Sunday afternoon, highlighting the end of the Eid break and the resumption of regular work routines for many.
