Manikganj: The government has launched a program to distribute seeds and fertilizers to 58,350 small and marginal farmers across the seven upazilas of Manikganj district for the cultivation of Robi crops this season. The initiative aims to support agricultural productivity and sustainability in the region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the distribution began yesterday with a formal inauguration on the premises of the Sadar Upazila Officers Club. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Manwar Hossein officiated the launch, marking the commencement of the distribution process.
Farmers from the Jagir and Dighi unions in Sadar upazila were among the first to receive the package, which includes one kilogram of mustard seed along with ten kilograms each of Muriate Of Potash (MoP) and di-ammonium phosphate (DAP). These inputs are crucial for the upcoming planting season.
Present at the event were Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sheikh Mejba-Ul Sabrina, Deputy Director of Agriculture Extension Shahjahan Siraj, and Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Masum Bhuiya, who collectively emphasized the importance of this support for local farmers.
The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office reported that a total of 9,620 impoverished and marginal farmers in Sadar Upazila will benefit from the seeds and fertilizers distributed during this season. This initiative is part of a broader government effort to enhance agricultural production and support farmers facing economic challenges.
