Dhaka: State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj today announced the government's commitment to enhancing the standard of primary education nationwide, with a particular focus on the haor areas. "Alongside strengthening teacher training, the School Feeding Programme has been introduced to support students," he stated while speaking at an orientation programme at the Primary Teachers' Training Institute (PTI) as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the orientation programme was organized by the School Feeding Programme for government primary schools, alongside a meeting aimed at improving primary education quality. Bobby Hajjaj underscored the importance of increasing awareness among teachers, parents, and the broader community to prevent student dropout. He urged head teachers to collaborate with local residents to enhance the education system.
In response to journalists' inquiries, Bobby Hajjaj revealed that the School Feeding Programme had been initiated as a pilot project, initially targeting the haor regions. "The programme will be expanded across the country in phases," he added.
The event featured several notable attendees, including Sunamganj-4 lawmaker Advocate Nurul Islam, Additional Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Md Abdur Rahim, Project Director of the School Feeding Programme Abul Amin, Superintendent of Police ABM Zakir Hossain, District Primary Education Officer Mohan Lal Das, and Sunamganj PTI Superintendent Dipankar Mohanta. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Sunamganj Mohammad Minhajur Rahman and moderated by Primary Education Officer Zia Uddin Ahmad.
Prior to the meeting, the state minister toured an exhibition showcasing artwork created by students. He also visited Pathabuka Government Primary School, Joypur Government Primary School, and Sulemanpur Government Primary School in Tahirpur Upazila.
