Dhaka: The government has established a nine-member committee to address the appeals of retired armed forces officials who claim they were denied promotions and service benefits during the Awami League regime. This initiative aims to rectify grievances from the affected personnel.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Ministry of Defence recently issued a notification regarding this development. The committee, chaired by Lieutenant General (Retd) Abdul Hafiz, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Defence and National Integration Development, will specifically look into applications from retired officials of the Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, and Bangladesh Air Force. These appeals concern issues faced between 2009 and August 4, 2024.

The committee has been tasked with completing its review within a two-month timeframe, potentially offering a resolution to long-standing concerns of the retired officials.
