Govt Enforces ‘Zero Tolerance’ Policy on Violence Against Women and Children

Dhaka: Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd) today declared the government’s unwavering stance on violence against women and children, emphasizing a ‘zero tolerance’ policy particularly against acts such as rape. He called upon the public to foster social resistance against these heinous crimes while addressing reporters following the 8th meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Law and Order at the Bangladesh Secretariat.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the home adviser highlighted the necessity for both legal and social frameworks to combat violence directed at women and children. He instructed law enforcement agencies to adopt a rigorous approach in dealing with such offenses and mandated the swift completion of investigations, ensuring that reports are submitted to the court promptly, particularly in cases of rape.



The meeting, chaired by the home adviser, resulted in a commitment to expedite trials and enforce stringent penalties against perpetrators involved in recent incidents of rape. This decisive action aims to reinforce the government’s firm position and commitment to eradicating violence against vulnerable groups in society.
