Govt Distributes Agri-Incentives Among Farmers in Sirajganj

Sirajganj: Seeds and chemical fertilizers were distributed today among small and marginal farmers in Raiganj upazila of the district under the government's agricultural incentive program. The distribution of these incentive materials was held on Sunday morning at the office premises of the Upazila Agricultural Extension Department Office. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Humayun Kabir inaugurated the distribution programmes as the chief guest. Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Mominul Islam and agriculturist Golam Rabbani were present as special guests.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Upazila Agriculture Office sources revealed that various Rabi crops including wheat, mustard, sunflower (hybrid), peanut, winter onion, lentils, khesari, and arhar will be cultivated in a total of 9,380 bighas of land in the upazila under the agricultural incentive program for the 2025-26 fiscal years. Of this, wheat will be cultivated on 90 bighas of land, mustard on 9,190 bighas, sunflower on 20 bighas, peanut on 20 bighas, lentils on 20 bighas, khesari on 20 bighas, and other crops on 20 bighas of land.

The farmers are being provided with the required amount of seeds, DAP, and MOP fertilizers free of cost for each crop. Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Mominul Islam stated that as a result of the implementation of this agricultural incentive program of the government, small and marginal farmers will be more encouraged to cultivate profitable crops in the winter Rabi season. This will increase production and ensure food security.

The participating farmers expressed that this government assistance will help them reduce their production costs and increase their yields. They expect that such initiatives will play a further role in making farmers economically self-reliant.
