Dhaka: The government has decided to withdraw its previous decision to observe 'New Bangladesh Day' on August 8, as stated in a recent announcement. The decision was made public after the Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification directing all relevant ministries, departments, and organizations to adhere to this revised stance.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the notification also annulled an earlier circular from the Cabinet Division that had called for the observance of the day. This move marks a reversal of the government's prior plan to commemorate 'New Bangladesh Day', reflecting a shift in official policy regarding the proposed observance.
