Dhaka: The Office of the Chief Adviser today strongly condemned the remarks made by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzat Ali regarding the avoidance of the term “rape.”
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing issued a statement tonight asserting that “rape is rape, whether committed against an 8-year-old or an 80-year-old. Such a heinous crime must be called by its rightful name.” The statement emphasized the interim government’s firm stance against any form of violence against citizens of Bangladesh.
The statement underscored the government’s commitment to addressing and denouncing any attempt to downplay or euphemize acts of sexual violence. The government reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards such crimes and affirmed its dedication to protecting the rights and safety of its citizens.
