Narayanganj: Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) today emphasized that the government is set to conduct the upcoming election in a peaceful manner, contingent upon the cooperation of all involved parties. "We will be able to hold a good and peaceful election if all the stakeholders cooperate us," Jahangir stated following his visit to the Police Lines in Narayanganj.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Jahangir identified the major stakeholders in the electoral process as the candidates from political parties, the election commission, the administration, and the home ministry. He also called upon the general public and media to support a fair and transparent election process.
Addressing concerns about the recovery of looted firearms since August 5, Jahangir affirmed ongoing efforts to retrieve these weapons to ensure a secure election environment. "Many more looted firearms may be recovered prior to the election," he expressed optimistically.
In response to inquiries about delays in the investigation of the July uprising cases, Jahangir explained that the process is prolonged due to the wrongful implication of many innocent individuals. He further commented on measures against political parties that are allegedly inciting conflict between the police and the public, suggesting that accurate news reporting is the best remedy to counter misinformation.
During his visit to Narayanganj District Police Lines, Jahangir engaged in various activities, including planting an olive tree sapling at the mosque premises of Police Lines. He also toured the Police Lines Canteen, Ration Store, Motor Vehicle and Watercraft Branch, and Police Lines Mess, where he interacted with officers and provided necessary directives.
The inspection was attended by notable officials, including Additional IGP and Director General of RAB AKM Shahidur Rahman, DIG Dhaka Range Rezaul Karim Mallick, and Superintendent of Police Narayanganj Pratyush Kumar Majumder.
