Dhaka: The government has announced an urgent appeal for the registration of all unlisted waqf properties with the Office of the Waqf Administrator. This move aims to facilitate proper management and prevent illegal occupation of these properties.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a public notice issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs has made it mandatory for all waqf properties, including mosques, madrasahs, eidgahs, graveyards, imambaras, khankas, and majar-sharifs, to be registered under Section 47 of the Waqf Ordinance, 1962. The notice highlights that numerous waqf estates across the country remain unregistered, posing challenges to their management and protection.

The Ministry has emphasized the need for immediate registration to safeguard these properties from encroachment. Authorities have been urged to prioritize the registration of all unlisted waqf estates as a matter of urgency.

To assist with the registration process, application forms, lists of required documents, and detailed guidelines are readily available. These resources can be accessed free of charge on the Bangladesh Waqf Administration’s website (www.waqf.gov.bd), as well as at waqf inspectors’ offices and deputy commissioners’ offices nationwide.
