Dhaka: The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has launched an initiative to promptly fill the vacant head-teacher positions in primary schools to enhance the educational operations in government primary schools. This move aims to address the shortage and ensure smooth functioning across the educational institutions.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ministry has dispatched a demand letter to the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) Secretariat, which will soon issue a recruitment notice to fill these vacant head-teacher positions. The current scenario reveals 65,502 approved head-teacher posts for 65,569 government primary schools nationwide, with only 31,396 head teachers in place.
This leaves a significant gap of 34,106 vacant head-teacher positions. Of these, 2,647 are designated as directly employable posts. In response, the ministry plans to reserve 10 percent of these directly employable positions and recruit the remaining 2,382 through independent direct recruitment procedures.
Additionally, 31,459 posts eligible for promotion will be filled by promoting assistant teachers to head-teachers, pending the resolution of Civil Appeal Case No. 73/2023 concerning the gradation of nationalized teachers. This comprehensive recruitment strategy is set to bolster the head-teacher workforce across the country's primary schools.
