Dhaka: The government has announced initiatives to address potential policy breaches in the selection and distribution of Family Cards. An official order, signed by Deputy Secretary (Routine Charge) Md Mamun of the Field Administration Coordination Branch under the Cabinet Division, has been dispatched to all Deputy Commissioners and Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this directive aligns with the government’s election manifesto, emphasizing the issuance of Family Cards and Farmer Cards as a priority program. The initiative is designed to offer social protection to marginal and low-income families, ensuring that cards are distributed in strict adherence to government-approved guidelines, without discrimination based on religion, caste, or creed.

The order mandates that the cards will be distributed free of charge, as part of the government-led initiative. To promote transparency and fairness in beneficiary selection, guidelines for forming selection committees at ward, union, and upazila levels have been disseminated to field administration.

The directive further insists on the strict observance of policy guidelines throughout the selection and distribution process. In the event of allegations involving financial transactions or other irregularities, appropriate legal actions are to be taken against those accountable.
