Lalpur: State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin today declared the government's commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and their properties in the char areas of the Padma River. She indicated that joint operations might be conducted in these regions to achieve this goal, emphasizing a coordinated approach during a law and order meeting at Lalpur Upazila where she was the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister highlighted the economic significance of the Padma River char areas, noting their contribution to agriculture, fisheries, and livestock rearing. She noted that the government has initiated efforts to maintain peace and security in these zones, thereby safeguarding the livelihoods of the inhabitants.
Sharmin further assured the public of strict administrative monitoring to curb illegal sand extraction in the char areas, hinting at potential joint operations involving law enforcement from different districts. The government remains committed to improving the quality of life for its citizens and will not tolerate any irregularities, she stated.
She urged all stakeholders to act responsibly in their respective roles to collectively advance the nation. Addressing questions from journalists, the state minister confirmed a balanced supply of fertiliser across the country, with ongoing monitoring to prevent artificial shortages through hoarding.
Sharmin reaffirmed the government's resolve to ensure that all benefits reach their intended recipients, not limited to fertiliser alone. The meeting at Lalpur was presided over by Acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Abir Hossain.
Prior to the law and order meeting, Sharmin engaged with officials, employees, and trainees at the Lalpur Upazila Youth Training Centre, releasing fish fry into local water bodies. Later, she participated in various government development programs across Lalpur, Bagatipara, and Baraigram upazilas, reinforcing her commitment to regional development and public welfare initiatives.
