Eight More Children Die with Measles Symptoms Across the Country

Dhaka: Eight more children died with symptoms of measles across the country in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths from confirmed measles and measles-like symptoms has reached 1,030 from March 15 to September 14, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 1,177 suspected measles cases were reported in the last 24 hours, while the total number of suspected cases from March 15 to September 14 stood at 172,720. A total of 55 confirmed measles cases were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases since March 15 to 20,124.

From March 15, a total of 152,117 patients with suspected measles were admitted to hospitals. Of them, 146,400 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals. Eight children died with suspected measles in the last 24 hours, while the total number of deaths among suspected measles cases since March 15 has reached 930.

No one died from confirmed measles in the last 24 hours. Since March 15, however, 100 people have died from confirmed measles.
