Manila:The government has launched an automated system aimed at ensuring transparency in the transfer and posting of doctors within the health sector, as announced by Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the initiative is set to begin with the transfer of 95 doctors at the upazila level, conducted without bias, political considerations, or personal preferences. The government plans to expand this system gradually to cover all positions under the Health Services Division. The minister inaugurated the system at a ceremony held at the Secretariat, describing it as a historic step towards merit-based and impartial transfers and postings.
The initial list of 95 doctors was prepared by the health secretary, focusing on applications and merit. The government will also consider doctors' preferences for postings within their respective upazilas, and if necessary, in neighboring areas if suitable positions are unavailable in their own upazilas.
Authorities will evaluate the results of this initial phase and plan further steps to implement the automated system across the entire ministry. State Minister Dr. MA Muhit highlighted the government's ongoing efforts to reform the health sector and introduce automation in line with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's directives.
Dr. Ummehani, Deputy Secretary of the Health Services Division, emphasized that automating government operations and modernizing administrative processes are key priorities. Previously, the transfer and posting of a large number of officials often faced delays and complications, causing frustration among doctors and affecting health service management. The new system aims to streamline these processes, making them more transparent and efficient, ultimately restoring discipline in the health sector.
